I am Gyani Pradhan Wong Ah Sui or Gyani Wasp. I'm 21 year old junior studying Screen Studies and Studio Art at Clark University, but I'm from Sikkim, India and Mauritius. I love working in the medium of film photography and have gotten quite obsessed with it more recently. I now develop my own color film and do so for my friends as well. I definitely am a very visual artist and would like to work as a photographer or filmmaker professionally. Over winter break I went back to Mauritius for the first time in 4 years. Having grown up in Mauritius in my early childhood, it always had the sense of being a sheltered playground or something akin to illustrations from a picture book. This series, titled Picture Book is about going back and encountering that feeling from a new lens. The highly saturated pops of color are meant to guide the viewer in warmly and to bask in the light and vibrance of my childhood home.
